Keeping You and Your Car Cool on a Road Trip

There’s no other country in the world that does cross-country road trips quite like America does. It has come to be a tradition and a rite of passage to take a road trip spanning several states in the summer. It is common knowledge that these road trips often lead to blood, sweat, tears, and worst of all, broken air conditioners.  Here are a few tips to avoid the worst of the summer road trip nightmares.

First: Plan Your Route

Don’t start your trip without knowing where you’re going. Chances are you won’t be able to avoid going through the hottest areas of the country during the hottest part of the day at some point, but there’s no reason you can’t be prepared.

Pimp Your Ride

Your car may not be ready to take the trip as soon as you are. Double check your engine and your air conditioner before you go. Cover sticky seats with covers or thin sheets. Don’t forget to cover your windshield with when you’re parked in the sun.

All the Essentials

You know the feeling when you think you’ve forgotten to pack something? Here are some of the road trip essentials that you don’t want to forget at home and end up with that feeling halfway across the country: water, first aid kit, sunscreen, bug spray, swimsuit, towel, sunglasses, hats, umbrella, and aloe. These things will help you avoid the sun or enjoy it.

Before you take a road trip in record-breaking temperatures, make sure you’re prepared by planning ahead with these tips.
